Our Chevy Chase project has been featured in Home & Design’s recent fall issue. The piece includes interviews with Principal Eric Hurtt, interior designer Joe Ireland, and our clients.
The article discusses the renovation of the 1925 Georgian Revival home for newly empty nesters who wanted a layout better suited to their day-to-day lives after their kids went to college. A significant reconfiguration shifted the living room, dining room, and kitchen, opened up walls, introduced a dedicated study, and added a rear addition to create better connections between spaces while retaining details true to the home’s original character.
“The clients were interested in maintaining some of the original architectural elements, but the spaces felt separated from one another,” says Principal Eric Hurtt. “It became a question of how to open it up while keeping some of the detailing that felt true to its era.”
The 1925 Georgian Revival renovation was completed in close collaboration with J.D. Ireland Interior Architecture + Design and WT Construction.
